ERRÓ

Guðmundur Guðmundsson, or simply «Erro», is an Icelandic artist who has spent most of his life in Spain, France and Italy. In his youth he became acquainted with many important artists such as Duchamp and Man Ray. Erro is a founding father of the narrative figuration movement, a movement that opposed the abstraction that reigned at the time.

The artist painted images that simultaneously became stories (hence «narrative»), his style is very cartoonish, verging on Andy Warhol’s pop art. In many of his paintings, Erro played with reality in order to alter or criticise it, often using sarcasm and irony.
