The Apsara dance has been apart of the Cambodian court long before the Angkor Period. In the Khmer Legend of Churning of the Ocean Milk, it is believed that thousands of celestial dancers, the apsaras emerged out of the sea seducing mortals with their beauty. With that said, the dance itself symbolizes the bridge between two worlds – Earth and Heaven.
