Inspired by the dreamy evenings of Cambodian floating village, this painting depicts the story of how most Khmer people lived – on water. The human figure on the center of the painting, with its crown creating a stupa, represents the Cambodian Naga Goddess whom the Khmer people believed to be the creator of all of Khmer land as she sucked out the sea, creating land for her people to prosper on. Khun’s soft, woven brushstrokes crix crosses along the canvas, bringing out the gentleness of the water, above which lies the lives of the nostalgic khmer ancient city.
